What does the job look like?
Linfox has proudly provides critical logistics support for several of Australia’s leading mining operations. Based at our Hazelmere site, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day performance of the Fortescue Iron Ore contract.
Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and commercially sound operation of all warehouse and transport activities. This includes managing local PUD operations, planning linehaul movements, coordinating back freight, engaging contractors, and driving innovation in both process and equipment. Your leadership will ensure Linfox continues to maximise payloads, deliver exceptional service, and maintain compliance with all OH&S, environmental, and legislative requirements. Key Areas:
- Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring commitment to safety, Chain of Responsibility, and quality requirements
- Oversee warehouse operations and local transport activities, ensuring efficient and reliable service
- Lead linehaul planning, payload optimisation, and back freight coordination to achieve commercial targets
- Provide operational leadership to direct reports, contractors, and the broader workforce, driving engagement and high performance
- Foster strong customer relationships with Fortescue to maintain operational alignment and facilitate continuous improvement
- Identify and introduce innovations in process, technology, and equipment to enhance service delivery
- Monitor financial performance and cost discipline in line with contractual obligations and business objectives
Are you the one?
We are seeking a proven operator with a strong background in transport, logistics or supply chain. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate sound commercial acumen, and are skilled at building trust with customers, contractors, and your team. You can demonstrate:
- Solid operational leadership experience within logistics or transport
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and deliver customer satisfaction
- Experience managing warehouse and transport functions in a contract-driven environment
- Understanding of cost drivers, budgeting, and operational planning
- A methodical, process-driven approach and a passion for continuous improvement
